Referral Program Terms

These terms cover the GRID COMMAND referral program, operated by Brent Norris, 18-1350 Volcano Road 303, Mountain View, HI 96771, United States ("we", "us"). They sit alongside the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. Where they differ on the referral program, these terms apply.

1. Who can join

• You must have an active, paid GRID COMMAND subscription that is in good standing.
• You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
• You join by accepting these terms on the referral sign-up form. One referral account per subscription.
• Joining is optional and costs nothing. You can leave at any time from the same page.

2. What counts as a referral

A referral qualifies when all of these are true:

• The person opens your referral link and starts a new paid subscription from that same browser within 60 days.
• Their first payment goes through. A checkout that is abandoned, declined or never completed does not count.
• They are not you. A subscription with the same email address or the same Stripe customer record as yours is treated as a self-referral and does not count.
• They did not remove the referral before paying. Every referred buyer is told about the program at checkout and can remove the referral with one click.

Each subscription can be referred once. If a buyer has opened more than one referral link, the most recent one counts. A subscription started before the link was opened does not count.

3. What you earn

• $1.00 (US dollars) of account credit per qualified referral, per calendar month.
• A month counts when, at the end of that month (Hawaii time), the referred subscriber has an active, paid subscription and you have an active, paid subscription and are still in the program.
• The amount is the same whatever plan the referred subscriber is on, however many systems they track, and whether they pay monthly or yearly.
• Credit for each month is added on the 1st of the following month.
• A month where the referred subscriber's payment has failed and not yet been recovered does not count.

4. How credit works

• Credit is added to your GRID COMMAND billing account through Stripe, our payment processor, and comes off your next invoices automatically.
• Credit has no cash value. It cannot be withdrawn, paid out, transferred to someone else, or exchanged for cash or anything else.
• Credit larger than your next invoice carries forward to the invoices after it.
• If your own subscription ends, for any reason, you stop earning and any unused credit is forfeited. It is not restored if you subscribe again later.
• You are responsible for any taxes that apply to credit you receive.

5. Reversals

If a referred subscriber's payment is refunded, disputed or charged back, we may reverse the credit for the month it covered. We may also reverse credit that was earned in breach of these terms, including self-referrals and invented accounts.

6. Weekly statement

While you are in the program we email you once a week, to the address on your subscription, with: the subscribers you referred (shown as a masked email, for example j•••@gmail.com), the date each one joined, whether each is still paying, the credit you have earned month by month, and the unused credit on your account. These emails are part of the program. To stop them, leave the program.

7. If you were referred

If you subscribe through someone's referral link, they will see a masked form of your email address (the first letter and the domain, for example j•••@gmail.com), the date you subscribed, and whether you are still subscribed. They never see your full email, your name, your plan, what you pay, your card details, or anything in your system. Being referred costs you nothing and changes nothing about your subscription. You can remove the referral at checkout.

8. How you may promote your link

Share your link with people you know, on your own site, in your own posts and in communities where it is welcome. You must not:

• send spam or bulk unsolicited messages, or break any anti-spam or marketing law;
• make claims about GRID COMMAND that are not on this website, or promise discounts or features that do not exist;
• present yourself as GRID COMMAND or as speaking for us;
• bid on "GRID COMMAND", "minigridmap" or similar terms in paid search ads, or use our name in a domain or account name;
• refer yourself, create accounts to refer, or pay or reward people to subscribe through your link;
• post your link where you do not have the right to, or where the rules of that place forbid it.

When you share your link publicly, say that you earn credit from it. A short note such as "referral link, I get account credit" is enough.

9. Privacy

When you join we record the version of these terms you accepted, when you accepted them, your browser's user agent, and a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address. We do not store the IP address itself. We keep the referral records needed to calculate and show credit. The Privacy Policy covers everything else. Do not use the program to identify, contact or collect information about the people you referred.

10. Leaving, suspension and changes

• You can leave at any time from the referral page. Leaving stops earning. Credit already on your account stays there while your subscription continues.
• We may suspend or remove a referral account that breaks these terms, and reverse credit earned in breach of them.
• We may change these terms, or end the program, by emailing participants at least 30 days before the change or end takes effect. Credit earned before an end date stays on your account. Staying in the program after a change takes effect means you accept it.

11. General

• You take part as an independent customer. The program does not make you our employee, agent or partner, and you cannot make commitments on our behalf.
• The program is provided as is. The limits of liability in the Terms of Use apply to it.
• These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, United States.
